2006 Day By Day Diary!
2006 ... A Disney Adventure: Day By Day Diary
Saturday March 18th:
Pre-party started the trip off right with myself, Shelly, Kirstie, Nick, and special guests Katie Van Alstine and The Citros, Phil,Linda,Kelly, & Kyle. Katies parents Mark & Nancy made the sendoff party as well and Dave, Brenda, and Megan Glowacki. Kirstie and Katies friend Jessica Leightnam comes over and Kirsties boyfriend Kevin Olson. The party lasted till around midnight. Plenty of good food, drink, and conversation. One welcome surprise was the announcement by Dave and Brenda that they might be joining us for 2007 ... Disney A Whole New World. A great way to kick off the 2006 trip with happy news about next year.
Sunday March 19th:
Up at 5:00 AM and ready to leave at 5:30AM, Katies parents are right on time and have us whisked off to the airport by 5:45AM. Checkin went fairly smooth, about 20 minutes and we were off to D concourse to meet up with The Citros who were already there. No incidents at the security checkin like last year. Flight 890 was right on time and we were boarded and on our way at 7:35AM. The only hitch was Larry decided to go to the bathroom one more time before boarding and Shelly had a cow. The bathroom stop didn’t in fact make one bit of difference in our departure but she gets very edgy when traveling. Upon arrival at Orlando we took a short bathroom break and then headed down to Level 1 Baggage Claim A Side. There was a very nice Disney Cast Member there to guide us to the Disney bus check in counter. Five minutes later we were on our way via Disneys Magical Express bus. The ride to Port Orleans Riverside took about 35 minutes. At the hotel we checked in quickly, dropped off our carry on stuff at the room and we’re off to Magic Kingdom.
Once at Magic Kingdom we stopped at Guest Relations and exchanged our Annual Passholder vouchers for Annual Passes. They are officially activated. Shelly goes over to Splash Mountain for fast passes for all of us while the rest go to Pecos Bill to eat. After eating we all went to Hall Of Presidents and then to Haunted Mansion. Then our fast pass time was available for Splash Mountain. When we finished Splash Mountain we jumped on the train and headed over to Mickeys Toon Town for a short cut to Tommorowland. Got 9 fast passes for Space Mountain that we didn’t use cause Larry wasn’t paying attention to the return time 8:25PM which would have been during the first Spectromagic. We then went on Buzz Lightyear where Larry kicked butt with 187,000 points. Kirstie and Katie checked out a dance team performing on stage near the Buzz wait line. The girls didn’t think much of the performance. Also while waiting for Buzz Nick the olympic boy tried to jump over a rope in the line and fell pretty hard to the pavement on his leg. He deserved it for screwing around and paid for it by having a sore leg the rest of the night which caused him to limp, get a horsey back ride from Kirstie, and at one point want to go back to the room. Because the park was pretty packed we then hit some easy on rides. Carousel Of Progress and Wedway People mover. Kirstie and Katie went for The Jungle Cruise while the rest of us stopped at Caseys on Mainstreet for hot dogs and fries. Shelly and I then set up at Hall Of Presidents for Spectromagic while Citros plus Nick did Jungle Cruise. After Spectromagic Citros went back to the hotel because Kellys daily dose was in the luggage. The rest of us setup for Wishes at the castle. After Wishes we went on Big Thunder mountain once and then pounded Splash Mountain four times in a row for a total of five times on opening day. The last two rides Shelly sat out while Kirstie,Katie, Nick & I went and got totally soaked. It was a little nippy after that. Kirstie and Katie went ahead of us back to the bus at 12:00 AM closing time while Shelly, Nick the limping boy, and I went to Caseys for some food before leaving. At the bus stop Kirstie and Katie were already near the front of the line when Shelly noticed they were at the wrong bus stop and flagged them over to the one we were just entering ( with a much longer line) . Almost immediatly after they skipped over to our line it became obvious that they in fact were in a line that also went to Port Orleans Riverside. HIsssssss, cat fight. Back at the hotel our bags were right where they were supposed to be. This Magical Express works great. Everyone is in bed by 1:00 AM except me. I’m setting up my sleep apnea device, showering, and putting my clothes away. I finally got to sleep at 2:20AM. The days activities made it feel like we had been here for three days already according to NIck. Nine hours at Magic Kingdom the same day we leave from Milwaukee. We got our moneys worth today. Tomorrow will be the first full day.
Monday March 20th:
Up at 10:30. Kirstie and Katie are off to Studios. Shelly and Nick go to the gift shop to get package goods for tonight. Shelly,Nick & I are out of the room at 11:30 headed for Studios. Once in we first check for reservations for SciFi Diner. There are no spots available. Shelly gets us fast pass for Rockin Roller Coaster and then meets us at Rosies for lunch. After eating we went through the Animation Tour . Then it was off to Aerosmith Rockin Roller Coaster. Before we actually went on Rockin Shelly got fast pass for Tower. After Coaster we caught Beauty & The Beast stage show. After Beauty & The Beast we watched The Stars & Cars Parade. When the parade ended it was time for our fast pass on Tower Of Terror. Nick wouldn’t ride and waited in the gift shop. Next we headed over for The Lights Action Motor Stunt Show for a 3:00 PM show. After that we headed over to SciFi to see if they had any tables for three right away. They said they didn’t but if we were staying for extra magic hours we could come back at 10:00PM. We agreed. We then stopped at The Commissary for a light lunch before heading over to Fantasmic. There we ran into Kirstie and Katie who joined us for the show. When Fantasmic ended we split up again and agreed to meet back at SciFi for our 10:00PM reservation. Shelly, Nick, and I went shopping and saw Muppet Vision 3D before SciFi Dinner. In The SciFi Kirstie and Katie were hitting on each other during the drive in movie. After eating we attempted to do Rockin and Tower but the wait was 60 minutes and 40 minutes and our feet and bodies were shot. Back on the bus to Port Orleans where Kirstie and Katie went to bed while Shelly and I hung out on the veranda with Phil and LInda for about a half hour until they went in to bed at 12:30AM. Now everyone is in bed except me cause I’m writing this diary. A brutal pounding for me today. I have a nice juicy blister the size of a dime on my baby toe. This is Disney War! Its 1:31AM now and I just took a shower so I’ll be one less body fighting for the shower in the morning. Nick just now put down his Nintendo DS and rolled over for some sleep. I think I’ve got at least another half hour in me so the sleep timer is set for one hour just in case I last a little longer.
Tuesday March 21st:
Katie and Kirstie were up at 8:00AM and 9:00AM getting an early start for Epcot. Shelly, Nick, and I didn’t make it up till 9:30AM. I leave for Epcot while Shelly and Nick go to the main pool and hot tub. Once at Epcot I get fastpass for Soarin and then eat at The Land. I let Shelly know to call me when they arrived at Epcot so I could meet them at the front and give them their passes. When they arrived we went to Ellens Energy Adventure first. After that we all went on Mission Space. Then we started around World Showcase with the first stop being the movie Oh Canada. We then continued over to France when we decided to check out the gift shop down International Gateway. I then suggested we take a boat ride over to Studios just to find out where the boat goes and how long it takes. The boat leaves International Gateway and makes stops at Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club, The Swan/Dolphin, and then Studios. The boat then returns the same way it came. One way takes about 25 minutes with all of the stops. After the boat got back to International Gateway we went over to The Land for our ride on Soarin. At the fastpass entrance we realized that two of our fastpasses said not for valid entry. I had got the fastpasses before Shelly and Nick had entered the park so the computer didn’t generate two of the passes as valid because they weren’t in the park yet. A cast member gave us a special pass to get on anyway. Soarin is awesome! You actually only travel maybe twenty feet into the dome shaped screen where the projection is but it feels like you are literally flying like a bird. They create the sensation not only with the film visual but with the gondolas tipping forward ,backward, and sideways. Air is also used to create wind while you are flying. After Soarin we went to Honey I Shrunk The Audience. Then Mexico and The El Tiempo River Of Time. We then made our way to Norway for a 20 minute wait before riding Maelstrom. After Maelstrom we went to America for The American Adventure. After the show Nick finally got his wish and went to the store at Japan for his YuGiOh cards. Now it was time to set up a location for Illuminations. We viewed from right behind where the earth sits before it travels accross the universe to the center of Illuminations. I got almost all the shots I needed for my next film project Illuminations. One more night and I’ll have all my footage. We then made our way back to the entrance to Epcot where we first went to the wrong bus stop and then found the right one with a 100 yard line. A second bus pulled up and started loading while the first bus was loading a handicap person. When the second bus was almost full everyone kind of froze. The bus driver asked twice if anyone would like to get on cause there was standing room for about 12 more. Everyone just stood there with a dumb look on their face so we cut our line and jumped on. Back at the hotel we ordered a pizza for the room and hung out. Its 1:00AM now and everyone is sacked out again except for Nick and I.
Wednesday March 22nd
Kirstie and Katie are gone to Animal Kingdom. Nick and I hang out on Ol Man Island for some swimming and hot tub. Shelly does laundry. After about an hour and a half we go over to the hotel food court for lunch around 1:30 PM. When we are done eating we take the boat to Downtown Disney. Shop around for 2 1/2 hours before going to Cirque du Soleil. This show was the most unbelievable entertaining show I have ever seen in my life. It really was worth three hundred dollars for the three of us. I highly recommend it for something fresh and different at Disney. When the show ended we planned on going to Magic Kingdom for Wishes but there isn’t a bus to theme parks from Downtown Disney. You have to go to a resort first. There wasn’t enough time so we shopped instead and bought our new coats with 10% off courtesy of being annual passholders. Hey, it only amounted to about $16.00 between us but money is money. Especially if you don’t have it to throw around. We then took the boat back to Port Orleans. Kirstie and Katie were back and hanging out at the pool. We joined them for about an hour. Now up in the room at 10:00 PM waiting for In Living Color to come on. Its 11:45 now and I’m off to bed cause we are finally going to use one of the two days of our Universal Park Hopper passes we bought in February 2005. Cab will be picking us up at Disney at 8:30AM.
Thursday March 23rd:
Out the door to catch our taxi at 8:30AM. Arrive at Universal 8:50AM. Cost one way is $33.00. We step up to the kiosk, swipe my credit card, enter the confirmation code from my order bought in February 2005 and out pops our four 2 day park hopper passes. I must admit I wouldn’t have been surprised if my purchase was somehow forgotten by Universal in 13 months. I had all the receipts to prove my purchase though if that would have happened. We start with the original Universal Studios and head right over to The Mummy which we rode twice in a row. Pretty cool ride! High speed coaster inside with a lot of great special effects and top notch scenery. After that we head over to the other attraction we’ve never seen, Shrek 4D. This is basically just a 3D movie with effects like you see at Honey I Shrunk The Audience and Its Tough To Be A Bug. Cute but no big deal. Just some more things that Universal ripped off of Disney to try and compete. Oh by the way, Disney has nothing to worry about from Universal. You couldn’t help but notice all the glaring weaknesses in Universal compared to Disney. For instance on our first ride The Mummy which we walked right on to because it was at park opening there was no cast member at the top of the queue to direct the boarding process. So everyone just kind of went where they wanted to. The guy that was in charge of checking the lap bars on the cars before departure was this big fat dope with no personality and come to think of it didn’t say a word to anyone. Maybe that was his role to look stupid and not say anything. After Shrek we walked over to Mels Drive In for some burgers and fries. Once again the cast in this case was either old codgers that would normally be greeters at Wal Mart or Disney rejects with an attitude. Like they had there own little click working Mels Drive In and we were interupting them. After we finished eating we headed over to Terminator 2 3D. This show is always a hit with Nick and I. This time he almost watched the whole thing without taking his 3D glasses off. Next we did Animal Planet Live which we also never had seen. There were a few cute things that got some laughs but for the most part I’ve gotten more laughs watching a dog out my car window taking a dump on somebody’s lawn. A very short show too. That probably was a good thing. After the pet show we went on E.T. Cute, but nothing to write home about. Especially because the best part of it was remembering back when Shelly , Barb, & I were waiting in long lines with baby Kirstie back in the early nineties. The fond memories brought more of a glow to my face then the ride itself. After E.T. we headed towards Back To The Future. 45 minute wait put the brakes on seeing that again. Good ride, but not if you have to wait to see it for the 21st time. We then moved over to MIB which we did wait about a half an hour for and it was fun. I kicked butt on the score. Again the cast proved what jackasses they were. If you’ve ever ridden Men In Black you’ll know that the line if need be goes all the way around the side of the building. Hundreds of riders can be waiting for this ride if its a busy day. Well, today the line was going straight out from the entrance door across the promenade blocking all passersby. So as you’re in line people are walking in between your line for MIB cause we were blocking the promenade around the lagoon. Finally some skinny dweeb with a beard named Clint came sauntering up with a walkie talkie and an earpiece and made the executive decision to move the rope which got the line moving where it should be on the side of the building. After MIB we headed over to Amity to maybe do Jaws. 60 minute wait equals Klipfels don’t see rubber shark with dweeb shooting cap gun at it. Next we sat down along the lagoon side of the buildings in Amity and had an ice cream. The sets really are beautiful at Universal. I’ve always thought so anyway. The streets and sets just look better to me than Disney Studios. More realistic and cozy. But that doesn’t make a theme park! After our ice cream we thought about doing Earthquake. Waiting line says no. Then we thought about seeing Beetlejuice for the first time. Waiting line says I don’t think so. Our next stop was Twister. No line and just as good a show as I remembered. We’re on the way to the exit to go to Islands Of Adventure when Nick says lets do Terminator 2 3D again. We go back over to Terminator and Nick once again almost left his 3D glasses on for the whole show. When Terminator ends we exit Studios and head over to Islands Of Adventure. As we approach we notice that The Hulk appears to not be running. Sure enough its not for whatever reason. Then the ride makes about 4 runs without people and then they open the line. Shelly and I jump in line. Nick doesn’t want to ride cause he just slammed a giant rice crispie bar. He holds the bag and coats while While Shelly and I go on. What a rush! That ride is always great! Once off The Hulk Nick and I go on a new ride similar to Tea Cups at Disney called Storm Force Acceletron. Next we get a break with Spiderman cause there is only a 20 minute wait. We jump on that cause it’s a pretty cool ride. Then Nick and I stop for a picture with Captain America. After the picture we head over to Jurassic Park River Ride. Shellys not feeling good so she looks for a bathroom while Nick & I ride a second time. When we get off the ride Shelly is not at the exit. We move to the bathroom she’s supposed to be at and she’s not there either. Nick and I move to the park exit and try to call Shelly to find where she is. She returns our call about 15 minutes later and claims to be at Jurassic Park Welcome Center where we just came from. She makes her way up to the exit where we are and we head out for our $32.00 cab ride to Epcot Center. When we reach the parking gates at Epcot the Disney cast member attempts to get $9.00 parking fee from the cab driver . I tell the driver to tell them we’re guests and get free parking. I hand him my room key and he lets us through. The cab driver can’t stop bitching about how they just tried to get $9.00 out of us. He says “ I am bringing them business and dropping them off at their door and they try to charge me” “Thats just not right” After we exit the cab we make our way into Epcot and notice that Spaceship Earth has no wait. We jump on for a quick ride before going to the Electric Umbrella for some food. When we finish eating we make our way to Mexico to stake out seats for Illuminations. Its 7:50PM so we get our usual seats along the flower garden right next to the lagoon. After the show starts these four mexican morons keep talking at the start of the show. One says “Wow this Is great” the other says “I’ve seen this 26 times” Now another idiot moves up into a small space to my left next to the rail. He then turns to his girlfriend/wife and asks if she can see alright? She says yes, don’t worry about me. Next his walkie talkie phone goes off and he’s telling some other boob where he is and what’s going on. At this point Shelly turns to the guy and gives him a loud Shhhhhhhhh. He immediatley shuts up but the four mexicans talk through the whole show. After Illuminations with the special bonus Mexican narration instead of music we head over to Mouse Gear to get my new Mickey hat. Two bus loads of people and we’re back at the room around 10:00 PM. Watching In Living Color again and having some beers. After everyone is sacked out I finally pack it in after midnight.
Friday March 24th
Up at 9:30AM. Nick and I leave for Animal Kingdom. Through the gate a little before 10:00 AM. We immediatly go and get fast pass for Expedition Everest. Once we have our passes we go to Flametree for early lunch. After eating we head over to Dinosaur with a 45 minute wait. We play video golf on my phone through the whole line so it seems to go fast. We finish up Dinosaur and go on Primevil Whirl. After Primevil Nick wants to stop for ice cream. We then do a little shopping at Island Mercantile and then head over for our fast pass on Expedition Everest around 2:00 PM. Very cool ride but not a lot more than Big Thunder Mountain. I wouldn’t wait a long wait line to go on it. Definitly fast pass material. When we finish Everest we get fast pass for Kilimanjaro Safari and then head over to Flights Of Wonder bird show. After the bird show we walk over and see Its Tough To Be A Bug. When we finish there we go to Pizzafari to eat and watch Mickeys Jammin Jungle Parade. When the parade finishes we go for our fast pass on Kilimanjaro at 4:50PM. When the safari is over we shop a little more and get some more ice cream before heading over to Studios at 6:00 PM. Once at Studios we head over to Rockin Roller Coaster only to run into Kirstie and Katie. They tell us fast pass is sold out for Coaster. Shelly, Rebecca (Shelly’s friend from work), and Morgan (Rebecca’s daughter) are on the way over to Fantasmic so we all wait and see the show together. After Fantasmic Nick and I take the boat from Studios over to Epcot Center. The boat docks just a little before the start of Illuminations so all we have to do is enter the park, get our extra magic hours bracelets on and start watching Illuminations from the bridge near France. After Illuminations we stop at Britain for fish and chips for me. Now we make our way around World Showcase to The Land for another ride on Soarin. The wait says 75 minutes but we get in line anyway. Smart move, the line actually only takes 25 minutes till we’re on. After Soarin Nick and I go on Mission Space and do Spaceship Earth twice in a row. We wanted to do Universe of Energy but it wasn’t open. Its 11:40PM now so we start to head out the exit but first stop at a gift shop so Nick can get his Sorcerer Mickey Plush he has wanted. Our bus stop is packed as usual so we have to wait for two busses to get our ride. Back in the room at 12:15AM and writing the days events before they blur into tomorrow. Time for a cool beer and some tv while as usual everyone is already sleeping. Tomorrow Nick and I tentatively are going to start again at Animal Kingdom for Everest fast pass. Hopefully we are going to pull off another triple header park day with Animal,Studios, and finishing up with Magic Kingdom which is open until 12:00 AM
Saturday March 25th
Nick and I sleep till 10:00 AM and finally leave at 12:00 Noon. First we go to Studios and get a fast pass for Rockin Roller Coaster. Then we go and eat at the ABC Commisary. After eating we went to Little Mermaid. Then we went to Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. After that show we watched Stars and Cars Parade. When the parade was over we did our fast pass for Coaster. After Coaster we tried to go to Lights Action Motor Stunt Show. It was sold out so we doubled back and attempted to do Backlot Tour. It was having technical difficulties so we went up the street to Narnia. When Narnia ended we took a chance that Backlot was up and running and doubled back to that. It was now working so we went on. When the tour got to Catastophe Canyon the truck horn on the set jammed in the on position and the water that usually floods from over the tram cars didn’t. There we sat for about 5 minutes with this truck horn blaring in our ears. Finally the driver apologizing pulled out and completed the tour. I don’t know why he didn’t do that in the first place. Once out of Backlot Tour we headed over to Fantasmic to eat and get seats. During the show the snake moved like it usually does during the show. The previous night the snake just sat on stage during that part. They must not have had enough cast members to walk all the snake parts on stage. Then at the end of the show where Mickey pops out of the center of the stage after last being seen on top of the mountain,he didn’t pop up where he usually does but instead came running out from stage left and then said his last line “Some Imagination Huh” The cast member playing Mickey must have missed his cue or maybe the elevator that shoots him up to stage level wasn’t functioning properly. I don’t know but it’s funny how we notice any variation from the norm. When the show was over at 8:10 PM we got out quick and took the boat over to Epcot. Today we had 10 minutes to spare after the boat docked at International Gateway. We made our way over to the entrance to World Showcase for Illuminations. This is a fantastic spot for the show. The fireworks are very close and you get a beautiful view of the lights on the countries. As soon as the last crack of the fireworks ended we turned and briskly made our way to the monorail for Magic Kingdom. We were attempting the unheard of, the impossible, the unimaginable, THE TRIPLE HEADER Night Shows!. Off the monorail and inside Magic Kingdom at 9:50PM to complete the triple header with Wishes. After wishes we went to Space Mountain but it had a 50 minute wait which was unacceptable. Instead we hit Buzz Lightyear Space Command. It only had a 20 minute wait. After exiting Buzz with my 276,000 score we went to Tommorowland Indy Race Track. The wait was also only 20 minutes. Nick wanted to drive me in the car instead of us both having our own car. He said he was going to take his driving test and I was going to be the instructor judging him. After the drive I failed him. I said my lawyer would be contacting his about my whiplash. After the ride he wanted to go again, so we did. This time he wanted each of us to have our own car but on different tracks so he could race me. I asked the cast member to set that up and he said we would have to wait a minute to set up that scenario. Finally he gave us our numbers to stand by two different cars on opposite tracks. My car pulled up and the driver got out while I entered. Nicks car pulled up with a little girl in it and two cast members pushing it. Sorry Nick, no race today. I had to take off or be holding up the track. After my run Nick pulled in about 5 minutes later. Now he wanted to go again but I said no, lets go to Mickey’s Philharmagic. There was no wait and in 15 minutes we saw the movie and were out to our next destination Its A Small World. We haven’t been on it for about a year because it was going through a major refurbishment. It really looks great. Like it was just built. After Small World we went on Peter Pans Flight. Then it was over to The Haunted Mansion at 11:55PM for one last ride. When we got to the entrance to The Mansion the door was closed. Then there was some rattling from inside. Playful cast members no doubt.. The door opened and we were let in. The sliding doors opened to the holding area where the walls and ceiling rise and there was what appeared to be a dead body/cast member lying in the middle of the room. The usual show went on while this guy was lying there without a sound or movement in the middle of the room. When the part came “There’s Always My Way” with the room going dark and a clap of thunder followed by a scream, the cast member popped up and was standing in the middle of us when the lights came back on. Now we made our way towards the exit and stopped at Casey’s about 12:15AM for some hotdogs and fries. On the way down Mainstreet there was this guy and wife with a little 4 year old girl. The little girl was stomping her feet and complaining that she wanted a balloon. The mother like mothers often do seemed to be trying to rationalize to the father why to get the balloon. The father was very angry and yelling at the woman about how much more junk are we going to buy here and where in the hell are we going to put this stuff. There’s no god dam room in the suitcase already. Well, I couldn’t help but pick up on what was going on ahead of us and pointed it out to Nick and started doing impressions of the couple experiencing the magic. Nick almost choked on his corn dog he was laughing so hard about the irony of the situation as I was also. “The Happiest Celebration On Earth” Its one those things that anyone who has ever gone to Disney has seen many times. What is supposed to be this happy joyous occasion is more like a trip to hell. We head out the gate and I think I see the sign that says Port Orleans Riverside/French Quarter stop 6 so we head over there. Once there the bus sitting at the stop says French Quarter. Nick points this out to me but Mr. No It All Larry says the busses go to both the hotels. After we get to French Quarter and everyone is out except us the bus driver leans over and asks us if we are going back to Magic Kingdom. I tell him no we are going to Port Orleans Riverside. He says this bus only goes to French Quarter. Nick gets a good laugh on me. The driver says he will run us over there anyway. Back at the hotel around 1:00 AM. Its 1:38 AM now and I’m having a beer and contemplating a shower tonight so I’m ready for tomorrow. Magic Kingdom is open until 2:00 AM. I think its going to be another triple header plus Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. We;ll see.
Sunday March 26th
Shelly is up and out of the room at 9:30 AM. She still hasn’t seen Expedition Everest and is going there today. Kirstie,Katie, Nick, & I leave the room around 12:00 Noon and head for MGM Studios. When we arrive at Studios we go to Rockin Roller Coaster to get a fast pass. Ater we get our passes we talked Katie into going on to Tower Of Terror. She was petrified through the whole pre-ride area and almost in tears. Kirstie and I managed to keep her in line though as we neared the boarding area of the ride. Nick refused to go as usual and was waiting in the gift shop for us. There were moments where it got pretty tense but we finally found ourself’s on the ride with Katie and no chance for her to turn back. Within 5 minutes Katie was exiting the ride full of pride that she had conquered her fear of TOT and immediatley wanted to go again. So we did it one more time while Nick again waited in the gift shop. After our second ride we headed over to catch Lights Motor Action Stunt Show. When that concluded we went over to the newly opened food court area next to Honey I Shrunk The Kids Playland. This was a favorite spot for Shelly,Barb,Kirstie and I to go in the early 90s when Kirstie was a little girl because we could let her play in the play land while we waited in the food area for her to be done. There is only one way out so parents don’t have to worry about their kids getting out without them seeing them. Nick had his first healthy meal of the day. Chocolate cake! Next we did our fast pass for Rockin Roller Coaster. In the middle of the line in we got a call from Shelly saying she had just arrived from Animal Kingdom. We told her to meet us in front of Beauty & The Beast Stage Show. When Rockin was over we all went to Beauty & The Beast. After Beauty & The Beast we went on Star Tours twice. The second time only Katie, Nick, & I went on. After Star Tours we jumped on The Backlot Tour. Ater Backlot Katie and I got ice cream cones and Shelly,Kirstie, & Nick got food from Rosies. We all then headed in to get seats for Fantasmic. When Fantasmic was over we exited as quick as we could and headed out Studios over to the boat to International Gateway at Epcot to catch the 9:00PM Illuminations Show. Again we headed to the front of World Showcase to view the fireworks. After Illuminations we made a quick exit to the monorail to travel over to Magic Kingdom. Once at Magic Kingdom we set up for Spectromagic in Frontierland just down the road from Hall Of Presidents. After the parade we went on Splash Mountain once and decided not to go again because it was a little cold and we didn’t want to get any wetter. We now headed over to Haunted Mansion for a ride. After Mansion we went on Its A Small World followed by Snow White and finally Mickey’s Philharmagic. After Philharmagic we went to Starlight Cafe for some food and entertainment by Cosmic Ray at 12:30AM. When we finished eating at 1:00AM we had a twenty minute wait before going on Space Mountain. When we finished Space Mountain we did Buzz Lightyear 4 times in a row without getting off to take us up to 1:55AM and park closing. On the way down Main Street USA we stopped for a little shopping and a bathroom break and then headed for our bus back to Port Orleans Riverside. Back in the room at 2:45AM we pack our bags, have a couple of beers, take our showers, to be ready for 10:15AM wake up to checkout of the room. Everyone is out like a light by 4:00 AM.
Monday March 27th
Alarm goes off at 10:15AM and we all slowly get up. Not much to do except brush our teeth etc. and pack toothpaste and toothbrushes. Everything goes smooth and we are out of the room at 10:55AM walking over to bell services to check all of our luggage and carry ons.
After checking our stuff we are on the bus to Magic Kingdom again. Once there we take the paddle wheeler over to Ticket and Transportation Center to do the ceremonial viewing of the block! That would be The Klipfels Family block at the entrance to Ticket Transportation Center. After we take pictures and video of all of us around our little piece of Disney we head back over to Magic Kingdom via the monorail. Katie gets us seats up front with the driver in the first car. When we arrive at Magic Kingdom we first attempt to eat at Pinnochios. The Kingdom is unbelievably crowded at 12:30 PM. We leave Pinnochios and next try Columbia Harbor House across from The Haunted Mansion. It’s not as bad. Shelly,Kirstie,Katie, and Nick go upstairs and get us a nice table with a view while I grab the grub downstairs. After we finish eating we split up. Kirstie and Katie go shopping, Shelly and Nick go to Mickey’s Philharmagic, and I go by myself first to The Hall Of Presidents and then shopping on Mainstreet USA. At 2:45PM. I
decide to hop on the WDW Railroad for one last ride all the way around The Magic KIngdom. After my circle tour of MK I exit the park and catch my bus back to Port Orleans Riverside . Its now 3:40 PM and our Magical Express bus will arrive at 4:00 PM. The bus arrives right on time and we’re off to the airport for Midwest Airlines Flight 895 to Milwaukee. We hangout in the terminal for some food before boarding at Gate 86. The flight is in the air now as I conclude the annual diary of this years magical trip to Walt Disney World Florida 2006 ...
