Air Supply Concert      2009

Christmas 2008 brought three things for Shelly. First, one laundry marker in a box which totally had her wondering how far her worth had actually dropped off and what was going on. The second was two Air Supply tee shirts which still didn’t shed much light on where this was headed. The third box held two tickets to a February 8th, 2009  concert at The Rochester Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Minnesota for Shelly’s favorite band Air Supply. Lodging would be three blocks away at The Days Inn Downtown in Rochester. This hotel will always be remembered by us for all the wrong reasons. What a dump! (See Pictures Below)

When we previously saw Air Supply at The Northern Lights Theatre in Milwaukee in 1998 Air Supply came out after the show and signed autographs, took pictures, video, and generally were just great guys to their fans. We were not ready at all. No camera for pictures, no pen for autographs, let alone something to write on. This time I made sure we were prepared. And just like ten years ago not only did Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell come out again for the fans after the show but they also had the whole band come out with them. Shelly got to shake hands and chat a little with Russell,Graham, and the rest of the band. They all signed one of the two Air Supply shirts. The keyboard player was having a birthday that day, and he did kind of look like a young Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail. So when Shelly was egged on by the band to give him a birthday kiss she was more than willing to oblige. We first saw Air Supply in 1988 at The Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee. Shelly saw them twice before in her teens which brings her total to five. She really is a groupie. It was well worth the 4 1/2 hour drive each way because Russell Hitchcock never belted out the lead vocals better. A phenomenal tenor voice and a trip I would do again.
